Whether you are a local angler or visiting the area, we would be delighted to welcome you to the River Ugie.
A range of daily, weekly and annual permits is available, including reduced rates for junior anglers, young adults, disabled anglers and senior members.
Please ensure that you familiarise yourself with the Association’s rules before fishing and carry evidence of your permit while on the river.

Our members know the river extremely well and are always happy to help visiting anglers make the most of their day.

The River Ugie belongs to everyone who cares about its future.
We ask all anglers to respect the river, surrounding countryside, landowners, wildlife and fellow anglers. Please leave gates as you find them, use designated parking areas and take all litter and discarded tackle home.
If you witness suspected illegal fishing or other suspicious activity on the river, please report it to the River Bailiff using the contact details provided on this page.
By working together, we can help protect the River Ugie and its salmon and sea trout for generations to come.

The lower river includes an excellent tidal beat, where sea trout traditionally begin to appear during late spring and throughout the summer.
Further upstream, the river offers an attractive mixture of streams, runs and pools, providing resting places for salmon and sea trout as they make their way through the system.
Sea trout generally begin entering the river during April and May, with grilse appearing from around July and August. The main salmon run traditionally comes later in the season, particularly during September and October.
In recent years, however, anglers have also seen salmon arriving earlier, with spring fish caught during the opening months of the season and larger multi-sea-winter salmon appearing as early as June.
Fishing is permitted by fly, worm and spinner, subject to the Association’s current rules.
