The River Ugie

The River Ugie is one of North East Scotland’s hidden gems, flowing through the Aberdeenshire countryside before entering the North Sea at the historic fishing port of Peterhead.

The river offers approximately six miles of double-bank fishing. Traditionally, much of the fishing takes place from the north bank, giving anglers access to more than three miles of varied and productive water.

The lower reaches include an excellent tidal beat, which can be fished on either side of high tide. Sea trout begin to appear in the estuary during late spring and can provide exciting fishing throughout the summer months.

Moving upstream, the character of the Ugie continually changes. Flowing streams, rocky runs and deeper pools provide varied fishing, while the narrower upper reaches contain some beautiful water where salmon and sea trout can rest on their journey upstream.
